Leptin is the hormone that tells our brain that we are full. It tells us to stop eating and helps control our body weight and metabolism. Below are five “laws” of leptin that will help your body stay full and fit:
- No grazing after dinner
- Reduce your carb intake
- Eat small meals
- Eat three meals a day
- Eat morning protein
Power Snacks
Sitting in the office and looking for a healthy snack to munch on? An organic apple with a handful of raw nuts and a cup of green tea is the perfect power snack! Here’s why:
Organic Apples:
- Phytonutrients in apples can help you regulate your blood sugar
- Excellent source of soluble fiber
- Great source of vitamin C
- Helps lower the risk of heart disease
- Helps lower cholesterol
Raw Organic Nuts:
- High in omega 3s
- High in antioxidants
- Helps reduce the risk of diabetes
- Helps reduce the risk of breast cancer
Green Tea:
- Tea contains polyphenols which help speed up the process of burning fat
- The antioxidants in each variety of tea can help block the oxidation of LDL (bad) cholesterol and increase HDL (good) cholesterol, increasing artery function
- Tea provides a food source for catechins; this group is more powerful than vitamins C and E in stopping the oxidation process that damages cells as well as having other disease-fighting abilities
- Research has found a correlation between drinking tea and a decreased risk for certain cancers such as bladder, lung, colon, breast, skin, and esophageal
- Helps decrease cholesterol and blood pressure
- Cleanses the body of toxins
