Drink More Green Tea!

by

TeaAdding green tea to your diet may help to:

•    Lower cholesterol
•    Prevent cardiovascular disease
•    Prevent cancer
•    Improve blood flow

The secret of green tea lies in the fact it is rich in catechin polyphenols, particularly epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). EGCG is a powerful anti-oxidant.  Besides inhibiting the growth of cancer cells, it can kill them without harming healthy tissue. It has also been effective in lowering LDL cholesterol levels, and inhibiting the abnormal formation of blood clots. The latter takes on added importance when you consider that thrombosis (the formation of abnormal blood clots) is a leading cause of heart attacks and stroke. (source: www.about.com)

Make sure to steep your tea bag for at least ten minutes to ensure all of the EGCG is released. Our favorite at D.R.E.A.M. Wellness is Harney & Sons Blueberry Green Tea (Barnes & Noble).
